David Wishart on ‘The Productivity Commission and the National Competition Policy’

David Wishart, Senior Lecturer at La Trobe Law School spoke today at the Political Economy: Productivity Crisis workshop at The University of Sydney. He examined the role and adequacy of the Productivity Commission in the implementation of National Competition Policy from 1995 to 2005. David argued that the commission “was not acting within its statute and the predictions made in Parliament in 1998 as to its role and the consequences of its methodological orientation have been borne out”.
