Visit of the President and Judges of the High Court of the Guizhou Province to La Trobe

In 2013 China launched a new round of judicial reforms, while in June 2014, it was decided that local trials will first be conducted in selected locations. For this purpose, seven locations (Jilin, Shanghai, Guangdong, Hubei, Hainan, Guizhou, and Qinghai) were selected and local pilot reform programs started immediately. These reforms intend to uphold efficiency, fairness and justice as the fundamental principles underpinning the Chinese judiciary, through establishing or improving mechanisms for judicial appointment, prevention of local protectionism and judicial corruption, and mechanisms for accountability and supervision.

On Monday 24 August, La Trobe Law School , in association with La Trobe Asia, will be hosting a delegation of six Judges led by The Hon. Sun Chao, President and Chief Justice of the Guizhou High Court. In this public talk, the Hon. Sun Chao, will explain the reform progresses at the four pilot courts in Guizhou Province.
