Wrap up of the High School Mooting Competition Finals

The La Trobe University High School Mooting Competition was launched in 2011. The competition is open to Year 11 legal studies students from partner schools, including regional communities in Bendigo. The semi-finals, as well as the grand final took place on Thursday 10 September 2015 at the Federal Court in Melbourne. While the trophy was ultimately awarded to Sirius College, the standard of performance by the four final teams was extremely high and the judges as well as many spectators conveyed how impressed they were by the research and composure of these year 11 students.

The Law School is incredibly grateful to the LLB students and academics who participated in and helped organise the High School Mooting Competition: Pascale Chifflet, Karina Plain, Dr Ozlem Susler, Dr Emma Henderson, Rebecca Edwards and Dr Jeffrey Barnes for organising and/or judging during the competition, Jenny Snelling who is in charge of programmes with our partner schools, as well as our wonderful students, Elizabeth, Ashley, Alex, Nicole, Jacob, Teagan, Sam and Jessica, who enthusiastically helped judge the numerous moots held during the three days of rounds, both in Bundoora and Bendigo.

The competition was a great success and we look forward to organising it again in 2016.
