Associate Professor Fiona Kelly completes Legal Toolkit for parents of transgender children seeking hormone treatment

In 2015, Associate Professor Fiona Kelly received a grant from the Victorian Law Foundation to create a Legal Toolkit for parents of transgender children seeking hormone treatment (often referred to as stage two treatment). Australia is the only country in the world that requires parents to get Family Court approval before hormone treatment can commence. The process is lengthy, costly and emotionally draining for both parents and children.

The Legal Toolkit is now complete and will soon be available to parents across Australia via various transgender support groups. Hard copies will also be distributed to the various gender clinics treating transgender children and youth.
