The Victorian Minister for Health, Jill Hennessy MP, will be launching Professor Anne-Maree Farrell’s new book, Health Law: Frameworks and Context (Cambridge University Press, 2017) on Thursday 9 November, 5-6.30pm at La Trobe’s City Campus, 360 Collins St, Level 20.
Professor Anne-Maree Farrell is Director of the Centre for Health Law and Society, which is based within La Trobe Law School. She co-authored the book with other leading health and medical lawyers, including Professor John Devereux (University of Queensland), Professor Isabel Karpin (University of Technology Sydney) and Associate Professor Penelope Weller (RMIT University).
About the book
Health Law: Frameworks and Context adopts a theoretically informed and principles-based approach to examining health law in its ethical, social and legal contexts. The book moves beyond traditional medical law frameworks to provide a broader contextual understanding of how law intersects with health. Written by respected academics in the field, it takes this rich and challenging field to a new level of analysis. Appealing to students, lawyers, health professionals and academic scholars alike, this will be an essential text for anyone looking to grasp the fundamental concepts of this rapidly expanding area of law, as well as those who wish to deepen their knowledge and understanding of health law in Australia and internationally.
